After doing some mathematics, ive run two test tanks of fuel, and im getting a solid 55 mpg. I guess 600's arent thirsty after all. That or im riding it like a baby.

Kinja'd!!!

I feel like im posting about my bike a lot. I guess im just excited. I mean, every road ive ever driven just feels so different on a motorcycle. There is no feeling like it. I completely understand now why people ride. I cant stop smiling the entire time im on the bike.

Nice bike!

Well yeah, motorcycles do use less fuel than cars :)

I wish I could afford to get an M-endorsement and a motorcycle

I actually looked at an '88 FZR a little while back, it wasn't running right and needed more work than I was willing to put into it for a first bike.

Thanks, well after my friend told me his zx6r got about 20-25, i got a little worried. And he's even fuel injected.

If youre patient and do a bit of searching around, you can find a bike for under a grand. And a good bike at that. The permit at the NJ dmv is only 5 bucks or so, and that will get you riding. The MSF class i took was 300 but it was well worth it. All in all i actually spent less than i would have on a beater/drift car.

Is that the same body style or is that the last year of the previous generation?

Ahh yes i see the difference, where the tank meets the tail section. Still a good looking bike though. Did you end up finding anything else?

nah not yet. still looking, I figure I have until the end of winter here to get a bargain. My brother wants to sell his Honda VTR 250 which is a great bike.. but a little outside of my budget and I kinda wanted to get an old RD or RZ before they go back up in price again.

Well, if its any consideration. Even though i bought a sport bike for my first bike, id honestly have to say look into supermotos. Either ready to go or converting one. Im almost hooked on trying to get into one of those now. I keep thinking of them as being the brz/frs of the bike world. Pushing and exceeding the limits of the machine, well under the legal speed limit. It just sounds like a ton of fun.

But you will enjoy whatever bike you get for sure.

I'll keep that in mind. They might be something I'll move onto when I've got a bit more experience under my belt. I think a supermoto would be idea for lane filtering, which is legal here now.

They tick all the great new biker check boxes. Light, agile, quick but not overpowerful, easy to work on and get parts for, durable when you drop it, reliable. The more i talk about it, the more i want to trade my fzr for one haha. But get what YOU want. Thats truly what matters most.

Are you in the US or another country. I ask because you said lane filtering. Im used to hearing lane splitting.

Australia. Filtering and Splitting are somewhat interchangeable.. but here the cops have started using the language to mean splitting is between moving traffic and filtering is between stationary traffic.

Filtering is legal in my state, but not splitting as they define it.

Hopefully the other states follow suit after seeing how much it works.

Ahhh. Good to note. Ill use the terms properly then. Unless you think those words should be interchangeable. But it makes some sense.

I think they're interchangeable unless you're talking to the NSW cops :P
